HELLO FAMILIES 🙂
I hope you have all been enjoying the snow and staying warm on this THREE day weekend! There was so much excitement on Thursday when the snow started to fall!
We have had a busy week doing research for our Habitat RAFT project and planning a persuasive essay. After working for a couple of lessons students shared their work with a partner to get feedback.
This week in math we began our measurement unit by reviewing units of measure and putting our measuring skills to the test.
THIS WEEK’S CURRICULUM
We will continue to make inferences in our reading to improve our reading comprehension.
We will continue with our measurement unit this week by solving real world, area and perimeter problems.
UNIT OF INQUIRY
We are now in the sorting out and going further stage of our inquiry into the external influences that affect a habitat’s function. Students will work on their RAFT project this week – they have each chosen a role (eg: conservationist), audience (eg: judge), format (eg:brochure) and a topic (eg: deforestation). The purpose of the project is to use persuasive strategies to answer the question, “what is our responsibility towards habitats?”
