Virtual Back to School Night Brings our Community Together Online
Teachers met with parents last night for our first ever Virtual Back to School Night hosted on Microsoft Teams. While we were disappointed that we were unable to welcome parents to our campus, we were excited to have parents participate virtually. The event gave teachers the opportunity to introduce themselves to families, provided an overview of the individual courses, and shared advice on how parents could support their child’s learning. In case you missed last night’s program, you can still watch the pre-recorded messages from the administration and program specialists HERE. Parents can also email teachers for a link to recorded sessions. A big thank you to all of the parents who participated and to the teachers for all of their efforts!

United Nations International Day of Peace (September 30th)
Celebrating the United Nations International Day of Peace is one of our most cherished events of the year at SCIS. As a school, UNIDOP allows us to celebrate the amazing diversity of our school community and the positive role we expect our students to play in the wider world. Our school-wide assembly on September 30th will include musical celebrations, student speeches, and of course, our parade of nations. Students are encouraged to come dressed on September 30th in the clothing that represents the nations and cultures they most closely identify with. While we will unfortunately not be able to welcome parents on campus this year due to our health and safety regulations, we will be live-streaming the assembly and working with IT for other ways that parents can participate. We will follow up with more specific school-wide information in the coming week. In the mean-time, please help your child plan what they would like to wear on September 30th to celebrate their national and cultural heritage.
Window into the Classroom
As we are unable to welcome parents onto our campus at this time, we would like to bring the SCIS experience to you virtually. We will regularly provide a gallery of photos representing the student daily experience at SCIS, so parents can stay connected despite our separation. Enjoy!
