The concert, a celebration of learning!

Hello parents,

In music class we are hard at work making music and fabulous memories. Soon we will have our winter concerts. The information can be found here:

WINTER CONCERT!

The concert is a wonderful time for both kids and parents. It is a time for the kids to show you all of the amazing things they can do! Yes, they are cute but it goes way beyond that. These wonderful kids here at the ECE are capable of so much and are very excited to show you. This concert the kids will sing, play instruments and move for you. Every song that we sing, play instruments or move to all have a specific learning goal in mind. For example, in 1st grade the kids are playing a repeated rhythms pattern at the same time as singing a completely different rhythmic pattern, this is a changeling activity. In kindergarten the kids are singing a very familiar song and playing a variety of instruments while remembering when to play and when to stop, how to properly play the instruments, and feeling the beat. Lastly, in PK the kids are playing instruments in a fast or slow fashion depending on how the music feels. These are just a highlight of the many learning moments that will take place at our concert on November 30th. In May we will have another concert and you will get to see how much their learning has progressed.

Can’t wait to see you there!!

Literacy in Music Class

In music class we learn many different musical skills. One way that we learn and reinforce those musical skills is through children’s literature. Books about music, composers or instruments are easy to incorporate into music class But also books with repeated parts and or rhyming words and any book that might be engaging and exciting you can add instruments, songs or movements to make the books come to life. The pictures above are some of the books we’ve read in PK, K or grade 1.

Welcome to the ECE Music website!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the ECE music website. Here I will be adding pictures, videos, information and updates about what is going on during our music classes each week. On this site you can find information on the ECE standards, the Orff-Schulwerk, learn a little about me and see the music schedule. Also, there are pages above where you can practice some of our songs at home if you choose.

The kids will have two concerts this year. These concerts are a chance for the kids to show you their learning!
