3. NANJING REFLECTIONS

Thanks for the support, bringing 74 swimmers to a travel meet is an honor as a coach.  At these travel meets we all get to know one another on a different level and these experiences are special for us all from the student-athletes to the parents and coaches.  As an athlete they grind out the practice sessions day after day, week after week.  To then have a strong family support that provides these opportunities and makes a weekend out of it, is a really unique feeling.  A feeling that creates a lot of belonging, a feeling that can create stress but, when the stress passes and they get through the races and share the experiences they gain a new strength of character, improved ownership of their training (“why” they do this every day) and we hope a strong feeling of self respect.

Thank you for all those who came entered the meet and the parents who traveled with us to make this a great weekend!

For our swimming reflections each coach shall be reviewing all of the ‘coaching’ details with each individual swimmers.

In terms of organization I would like to take this opportunity to remind the swimming families for future meets.

  • All 10 years old and under swimmers must be accompanied by a parent throughout the trip.
  • All swimmers should always travel with the team.

4. ACAMIS SELECTIONS – 52 days and counting…

The coaching team shall select the 6 swimmers of each gender from the the following age categories : 9-10, 11-12, 13-14 & 15 & over.  Under 8 swimmers are strictly not permitted to swim in this meet.

Swimmers from other age categories maybe asked to swim up.

When ACAMIS selections are released we ask that all swimmers who are selected swim 4x per week until ACAMIS.

Swimmers who are in student council should make up for their missed swimming on Tuesday by beginning to train with in our morning practice on Tuesday AM 6:30am – 7:30.  Contact coach Cheryl on cphilp@scis-china.org

Payment for the hotel and buffet dinner in Suzhou shall be open next week for swimmers selected.

Meet fees and busing is covered by our school.

5. PAYMENT FOR HOODIES

Please pay for all hoodies at the front desk with Sellen Zhang ASAP.

6. TRAINING THIS WEEK

7. NEXT MEET – COMPULSORY ATTENDANCE FOR ALL

SHANGHAI SWIMMING LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

11 & over category – Saturday 23rd February 2019

10 & under category – Sunday 24th February 2019

With the CNY break approaching Varsity team only have approx. 14 practices until this meet.

Ensure all swimmers are on 100% attendance as these breaks can really break up what the coaches are working towards and become frustrating for the swimmer to gain and lose fitness.

Parents should be looking to find a solution to keep their children swimming over the holiday break.

8. PBs ON WEBSITE

Go to Team Information – Full Team PBs.

Homework, learn your PBs by heart, set goal times for all your PBs.  Compare against the USA standard motivational times!

9. CHINESE NEW YEAR SETS

Your coaches shall send you all CNY sets for the holidays, all swimmers are expected to swim over holiday breaks.  Families please take accountably for this, the swimmers and coaches work so hard to gain the improvements and it all can be lost so easily over the break.

Have a great week!
